  • Reflecting

While the rest of the family went and played crazy golf, I took the chance to have a slow wander around the harbour without running the risk of boring everyone else senseless. I understand this is one of the frustrations of having someone in the family who keeps stopping to take photos. The tide was low enough for me to get down to sea level rather than having to shoot from the harbour wall, and the reflections in the sea, distorted by the gentle breeze, took my eye.

  • Watch it!

Nope, my mistake, I meant Watchett. Watchett is a small harbour town on the Somerset coast, on the edge of Exmoor. It has a lighthouse, so that is good enough for me. Compositionally I guess this photo is inverted to the rules, with the lighthouse being a minor player in the scene, but I am defending the decision by saying the two mooring points create a leading line. Well, that is my excuse.

  • Lobster Pots

    Stacked up and ready,
    Lobster pots eager for work.
    Awaiting the boat.

The north-east coast of England is a treasure trove of harbours, islands, and castles. Seahouses is the gateway to the Farne Islands, famous for Grace Darling and puffins. The harbour is still a working port with its own charms.
