Melbourne is well known for its street art, and there is a network of alleys covered in murals. As you can tell from the little guy in the yellow box, tourists and visitors are envouraged to photograph the art. You couldn’t resist this chilled group of farmyard friends, though the violin did confuse me…
Some people are not a fan, and just tagging on walls is stupid, but I really like some good wall art, or street art – however you term it. I found this cat outside a resaurant in Menorca, just minding his business. Maybe it was a marketing ploy to get potential customers to stop outside the restaurant?

Filling shells with TNT
Risking life and limb.
This street art, in Beeston Notts, commemorates the work of the so-called Canary Girls. These worked in dangerous conditions filling shells with TNT for the war effort in World War One. In 1918, an explosion of 8 tons of TNT in the Chilwell factory killed 134, of which only 32 could be positively identified.
They were called the Canary Girls because working with the TNT caused their skin and hair to take on a yellowish orange colour.
