  • Woodland Mist

    Alone in the woods
As the sun burns through the mist.
    Waiting for the light.

Note to self. Stop being so lazy, and get up in the morning. Not in the summer of course, that is ridiculous unless you are camping out. But autumn/winter when sunrise is at a reasonable time should be doable. I will do it.

  • Romance

    Love is in the air
Carved in the trunk of a tree.
    Venus and love hearts.

Time for a bit of photo-geekery. This image was taken with totally incorrect settings. ISO 6400 and 1/1600th of a second. What the actual f? I must have been dreaming, and should have checked. However, what it does show is how mistakes can be rescued. Even underexposed by three and a half stops the noise was able to be fixed.
Sorry for the geekery, but I can’t give you information on the image itself because I don’t remember where it was… 🙂

  • Contrasts

    An autumn carpet
    Amber against summer green.
    Two seasons in one.

This is not two photos merged, it was actually like that. The dead pine needles covering the river bank, and still dying on the branches, whilst the deciduous trees were in full leaf. Another image from the walk along the River Derwent. Glad I took my camera.

  • Misty morning

    No gorillas here
    on a morning woodland stroll.
    Just trees in the mist.

The purpose of the walk was to get to the beacon for stunning views over the Malvern Hills. The weather had other ideas, and by the time we reached the top our view was fog and about ten feet in front of us. However, on the way up, there were other photographic opportunities thankfully.

  • River Walk

    Sighted through the trees
    A family group goes by.
    Dog taken for walks

A walk along the river Derwent in Derbyshire. After a bit of rain the sun came out, illuminating a gap in the trees. Five seconds to wait until an obliging family walked through, with their dog.

  • Woodland Guardians

    Leaning guardians
    Listen to the wind’s secrets
    Rustling in the leaves

A beautiful location, discovered after watching a video by Gary Gough, one of my favourite photographers. This woodland path is photogenic in all weathers and seasons. According to the locals I met it is most magical in the moonlight. Just watch out for the headless horseman.
