  • Alone again, naturally

    Taking in the view
    Loneliness is a mindset.
    Enjoy the silence.

Another Place is an installation by Anthony Gormley on the beach at Crosby. There are 100 statues, and there are many more dotted around the UK, as well as other countries. Anthony Gormley is also responsible for the Angel of the North. A little Adamsky effect added to isolate the statue even more.

  • Island view

    Distant Isles beckon,
Wreathed in cloud, shrouded from view,
    More rain on the way.

One reason Ireland is so green is the predictably unpredictable weather. Just sitting and watching the weather is a perfect stress relief.

  • Matchstick men

    The scene looks serene.
    Matchstick people on the sands,
    Not swimming – too cold.

Always amazing how eerily still it can feel, with a fog on the hills and an almost calm sea. A beach on the west coast of Ireland

  • King Canute

    Unstoppable force
Set free by the wind and tide.
    Boy stands defiant

Taken during a stormy day at Scarborough on the east coast. I was waiting for a decent wave to photograph, and saw King Canute here facing down the seas. Needless to say, a fraction of a second later he was totally soaked. Wave 1 : Boy 0

  • Surfers Paradise

    On the way back in.
The sea is calm, I am leaving,
    Back when the surf’s up.

Taken on a fairly deserted beach in Ireland, the sea didn’t look the best for surfing. This was also one of my first images where I have applied the Adamsky effect. Sometimes the image is what you see, and not what is there.
