I have previously posted the classic view of the old pier at Swanage, but this angle is often overlooked. With the tide at this level you can see how the wooden supports have rotted away over time. I just wonder how much longer they will be there.
There may be another posting gap, as I am due to go to Italy for a couple of weeks. Hopefully I will come back with a few images to share along with the normal holiday snaps. Fingers crossed…
End of next week we are off to the seaside hunting for dolphins. Not hunting in the sense of Japanese factory ships, but in the sense of looking for. So I thought I would get in the mood with an image from a sunny day on a quiet beach. I like to think the cyclist was using this route as their regular commute to and from work. If you have been reading my blog, you will know this has been edited in the style of the Adamsky effect.
The vast majority of images from Penmon Point seem to focus (no pun intended) on the lighthouse. However, as you will have noticed in a previous post, the lighthouse comes right up close to the rocky shoreline. This can make it tricky to isolate other than at a really high tide. Often overlooked, there is a marker buoy a little further out which lends itself a little better to the minimalist style of photography. Probably better seen on a bigger screen, and if I have done it right, you should get a larger view by clicking on the image.
Going back to the theme of minimalism, I took this image a few years ago whilst on a wine tour of Bordeaux. After the tasting, the empty wine glasses on a white tablecloth were irresistable. I have a couple of other images from Bordeaux that will find their way on to the blog until I get my backside in gear and go take some new ones.

I really like the Adamsky effect as a method of removing distractions for a more minimalist look. Not pure photography, but then what is? I have seen several methods for doing this on t’Interweb, and have settled on an amalgamation of a few. Maybe I should write a tutorial, but then people might think I know what I am doing. Can’t have that.

Looking back it seems I have a few trees in the image collection, and several minimalist ones at that. Snow or fog both work well. We have not yet had snow this winter, so this is one from last winter, taken at Strelley Hall in Nottingham.
A murder of crows

Not sure that two is enough to make a murder, but I could hardly whistle up a couple of spares. So for this purpose two is a murder.
