  • Storm

Waves – crash all you can.
I am the storm, shrieked the wind,
    Mine is the power.

It has been a week or so since I posted, as I have been away on a short break to the Devon coast. As storm Amy was coming to an end, we made an evening visit to Hartland Quay. The waves were amazing, and even though I am quite pleased with this image, I still don’t feel it does justice to the anger in the sea.

  • Castles in the Sand

    Rising from the dunes,
    Defence from a bygone age,
    But still standing strong.

Like Wales, the northeast coast of England is awash with old castles. Some are total ruins, but some are still actually lived in. One is Bamburgh Castle, sat atop sand dunes and looking out over the North Sea to the Farne Islands.

  • Stuck in the mud

    When the tide runs low
And there’s nowhere else to go,
    I’ll stick in the mud.

Porlock Weir in Devon is a really interesting place to visit, and for long exposure photography when the tide is right. As you can guess from this image, I have yet to visit when the tide is right.
