A little bit of minimalism from the River Trent in January last year. Although the image is minimalist, the effort required to achieve it was not. I think the time taken to learn the techniques were worth it, but hey – I am retired so what else was I going to do during those hours?

A walk along the river Derwent in Derbyshire. After a bit of rain the sun came out, illuminating a gap in the trees. Five seconds to wait until an obliging family walked through, with their dog.

Taken in the Abbey gardens on Tresco in the Scilly Isles, one small bird in a fountain. Only a few miles off the coast of Cornwall, but this archipelago feels like I imagine the Caribbean to be. Not that I have been to the Caribbean, nor do I have any desire to go.

Tenby in the spring.
Tenby is one of the prettiest seaside towns in South Wales, renowned for the pastel colours of the houses and safe beaches. If you are planning on staying, accommodation with parking is fairly scarce, and you will probably end up having to use a pay and display car park.

I have never surfed, and not likely to. However, the exhilaration of riding a wave with the spray in your face looks fairly obvious.

Surfing is tricky.
Spent a pleasant half hour watching the surfers (and swimmers) at Whitesands in Wales. Grabbed some action shots, but unfortunately most of them show the faces, which is probably not allowed.

I guess sometimes we all feel a bit like that. Discombobulated. But nothing stands still, everything changes, so embrace the change. You never know, the new reality may be better than the old.

Not only landscapes and seascapes, sometimes the big lens comes out. There were thousands of birds on this sea stack near the Green Bridge of Wales, and I just had to wait and track an incoming late comer. They didn’t even bring a bottle.
